LEGO Ideas The X-Files 21369 Rumoured for August 2026
The truth is out there... and it may soon be arriving in LEGO brick form.
After years of requests from fans, it looks as though LEGO Ideas 21369 The X-Files could finally become a reality. While LEGO has yet to officially reveal the set, multiple rumour sources suggest it will launch on 1 August 2026 as a premium 18+ LEGO Ideas model containing 1,478 pieces.
What makes this release especially exciting is the incredible fan design that inspired it.
Created by acclaimed LEGO Ideas designer Brent Waller (WetWired), the winning submission captured the atmosphere of The X-Files in a stunning three-level display. Rather than recreating a single scene, the model tells the story of the series from top to bottom.
Early Images Suggest a Faithful Adaptation
Although LEGO has yet to officially unveil the set, an apparent early image of LEGO Ideas 21369 The X-Files has recently surfaced online via several LEGO leak communities. If genuine, the leaked model suggests that LEGO has remained remarkably faithful to Brent Waller's original winning concept, retaining the distinctive layered display featuring the forest canopy, hovering UFO and Mulder's iconic basement office. While some of the finer details appear to have been simplified compared with the original LEGO Ideas submission, the overall atmosphere and storytelling remain instantly recognisable. As always with leaked images, collectors should treat them with caution until LEGO publishes official product photography and confirms the final design.

At the highest level, a mysterious UFO hovers silently above a moonlit forest, complete with towering pine trees and a hidden alien presence. Beneath the woodland lies the iconic basement office of FBI Special Agent Fox Mulder, packed with references that fans of the television series will instantly recognise. Most notably, Mulder's famous "I Want To Believe" poster hangs proudly on the office wall, alongside filing cabinets, evidence, computer equipment and countless conspiracy clues.
The original LEGO Ideas model contained just over 2,000 pieces, so the rumoured retail version is expected to be significantly redesigned. That's nothing unusual for the LEGO Ideas theme, however, as official sets are often refined to improve stability, build experience and production costs before reaching store shelves.
Brent Waller is no stranger to LEGO fans. He previously created the fan designs that became the hugely successful Ghostbusters Ecto-1 (21108) and Seinfeld (21328), giving collectors plenty of confidence that The X-Files is in safe hands.
Investment Potential
From an investment perspective, 21369 The X-Files has many of the ingredients collectors look for.
The LEGO Ideas theme has consistently produced desirable display models with relatively short production runs, while licensed television properties often attract buyers beyond the traditional LEGO community. The X-Files remains one of the most recognisable science-fiction franchises ever produced, with a loyal fanbase spanning more than three decades.
If LEGO preserves the dramatic layered display from Brent Waller's original concept, this could become one of the standout LEGO Ideas releases of 2026. Its combination of nostalgia, display appeal and crossover collectability could make it particularly attractive once the set eventually retires.
For now, collectors should remember that the release date, piece count and pricing remain rumours until confirmed by LEGO. However, based on the original Ideas submission alone, this is already shaping up to be one of the most exciting LEGO Ideas sets currently on the horizon.
We'll update this article as soon as LEGO officially unveils the set with images, pricing and final specifications.
