Rumoured LEGO Minecraft January 2027 Sets Include a Castle Joust
The first reported details of LEGO Minecraft’s January 2027 wave point to seven new sets, including a Castle Joust, Jungle Fort, Blaze Battle Arena and another character-shaped animal house.
The most interesting product is rumoured to be 21606 The Castle Joust, priced at $69.99 in the US. If the report proves accurate, it would introduce jousting to LEGO Minecraft while combining the gaming theme with one of LEGO’s most enduring building subjects: the medieval castle.
LEGO has not confirmed the reported range, product names, prices, piece counts or January release date. All details should therefore remain clearly labelled as rumours until official product pages appear. The information reportedly originates with Unibricks and was subsequently shared through the LEGO news community.
The rumoured January 2027 LEGO® Minecraft® range
The reported line-up consists of:
- 21599 The Forest Attack – $9.99
- 21600 The Jungle Fort Skeleton Attack – $14.99
- 21601 The Baby Wolf House – $19.99
- 21602 The Blaze Battle Arena – $19.99
- 21603 The Mineshaft Cave Expedition – $29.99
- 21604 The Pig – $39.99
- 21606 The Castle Joust – $69.99
A separate promotional-style product, 30757 The Desert Attack Mini-Build, has also been reported for 2027.
At this stage, no reliable piece counts, minifigure selections or UK and European prices have been confirmed. The names may also change before release.
LEGO 21606 The Castle Joust
The Castle Joust is the clear headline set from the reported wave.
LEGO Minecraft has produced castles, fortresses, towers and battle locations before, but a jousting event would be a new idea for the theme. It could combine Minecraft’s block-built aesthetic with horses, armour, banners and medieval competition.
That creates a potentially wider audience than a standard biome or creature house. Minecraft collectors may be interested because of the game setting, while some Castle fans could be attracted by medieval figures, accessories and building elements.
The crossover should not be exaggerated. A Minecraft castle will retain the game’s square architecture and stylised characters rather than resembling a traditional LEGO Castle fortress. However, a well-designed jousting model could still appeal beyond the theme’s usual younger audience.
The reported $69.99 price also places it in an attractive middle ground. It should be large enough to include a meaningful structure and several figures without moving into the more difficult $100-plus playset market.
Why a jousting set could stand out
Many LEGO Minecraft sets recreate familiar environments rather than specific events. A jousting tournament gives the product a more obvious story.
The strongest version could include:
- Two competing riders
- Minecraft horses or other mounts
- Exclusive player skins
- Armour and weapons
- A central tilting barrier
- Spectator stands
- Flags and printed banners
- A castle gate or tower
- Hostile mobs interrupting the tournament
The figures may prove more important than the building itself. Exclusive armour, skins or mobs can give smaller Minecraft sets a strong aftermarket identity, particularly when collectors need a particular character to complete their display.
Until the figures are confirmed, however, it is too early to judge whether 21606 will become an essential character set or simply an attractive play model.
The Jungle Fort Skeleton Attack
Rumoured set 21600 The Jungle Fort Skeleton Attack is reported at only $14.99.
That could make it one of the more interesting smaller investments in the wave. Low-priced Minecraft sets can perform well when they include a desirable mob, useful printed elements or a recognisable compact build.
The title suggests a defensive jungle structure attacked by skeletons. At this price, the model will inevitably be small, but it could offer good character value relative to its cost.
Sets at this level also benefit from practical investment characteristics. They require little storage space, have low acquisition costs and remain affordable to collectors after retirement.
The weakness is supply. Entry-level Minecraft products are often distributed widely and purchased in large quantities, which can delay scarcity.
The Blaze Battle Arena
Rumoured set 21602 The Blaze Battle Arena is also reported at $19.99.
Blazes are recognisable hostile mobs associated with Minecraft’s Nether dimension. A battle arena could include combat functions, weapons and one or more desirable figures.
There is some useful precedent in 21154 The Blaze Bridge, an earlier Nether-based Minecraft set. The final character line-up will determine whether the new arena feels sufficiently different or becomes a cheaper reinterpretation of familiar material.
At $19.99, the set may offer good value if it contains multiple mobs or an exclusive player skin. It would be less interesting if the build is largely decorative and the figures are common elsewhere.
The Baby Wolf House and The Pig
The reported 21601 The Baby Wolf House would continue LEGO Minecraft’s long-running series of creature-shaped homes.
These sets combine a large brick-built animal with a small playable interior. Their visual simplicity and recognisable shapes make them particularly suitable for younger fans and gifting.
The $19.99 price would make the Baby Wolf House one of the more affordable examples.
Rumoured set 21604 The Pig, priced at $39.99, may follow a related character-display format, although the title alone does not reveal whether it is a large brick-built animal, a house or another type of model.
Animal-shaped products can develop collector appeal when they represent a popular mob particularly well. However, repeated versions create comparison risk. Investors need to establish whether the new model is the definitive interpretation or simply another option among several similar sets.
A durable LEGO gaming theme
LEGO Minecraft has now developed into one of LEGO’s most established gaming partnerships.
The official LEGO range continues to cover biomes, creatures, mines, villages and display products, supported by familiar characters such as Steve, Alex, Creepers and Endermen. LEGO describes the theme as a combination of authentic pixelated details, recognisable figures and builds that can be repeatedly rearranged.
That durability is one of the theme’s greatest investment strengths.
Minecraft is not tied to a single film or short product cycle. Its open-ended world continually creates new locations, creatures and gameplay situations that LEGO can reinterpret.
The theme also serves a wide age range. Small playsets appeal to children, while larger display releases such as 21589 Mini Biomes show LEGO increasingly targeting older Minecraft fans as well. The official 797-piece Mini Biomes model includes five modular locations and five microfigures, demonstrating the licence’s growing display potential.
What does Investabrick’s Minecraft data tell us?
Public Investabrick analysis places LEGO Minecraft at approximately 9% to 10% average annualised growth, supported by a substantial number of retired sets. That represents a solid historic theme result rather than an occasional success built from only a handful of products.
Performance is not uniform, however.
| LEGO Minecraft set | Original RRP | Public value | Annualised growth |
|---|---|---|---|
| 21118 The Mine | $110 | approximately $331 | around 13% |
| 21127 The Fortress | $110 | approximately $256 | around 13% |
| 21136 The Ocean Monument | $120 | approximately $255 | around 14% |
| 21174 The Modern Treehouse | $120 | approximately $109 | around -6% |
These results show that major Minecraft locations can perform strongly, but size and price alone do not guarantee appreciation.
The most spectacular public example is 21137 The Mountain Cave. Investabrick currently records an original RRP of $250 and a sealed value of approximately $1,914, representing total growth of around 666%.
That performance reflects a rare combination of scale, strong display presence, recognisable game content and limited post-retirement supply. The rumoured $69.99 Castle Joust should not be treated as a direct equivalent, but it demonstrates the theme’s potential when a product becomes a definitive Minecraft location.
The strongest Castle comparator
The most relevant existing set may be 21127 The Fortress.
It originally retailed for $110 and is publicly valued by Investabrick at approximately $256, with annualised growth of around 13%.
The Fortress demonstrates that medieval-style Minecraft architecture can produce strong long-term demand. It also benefits from being a recognisable defensive location rather than a generic landscape.
The rumoured Castle Joust would launch at a lower $69.99 price, potentially making it accessible to a wider buyer pool. If it includes attractive exclusive figures and delivers a complete-looking castle scene, it could become one of the strongest products in the January wave.
It is unlikely to match The Fortress automatically. Production volumes are now higher, modern distribution is broader and Minecraft investors have more historical information than they did during the earlier theme years.
Nevertheless, the subject gives 21606 a better starting point than many interchangeable Minecraft playsets.
Why affordable Minecraft sets can also perform well
Investors should not focus entirely on the Castle Joust.
Minecraft’s greatest aftermarket strength often comes from character and mob demand. A low-priced set with an exclusive skin can become more desirable than a large location filled with common figures.
Smaller products also have practical advantages:
- Low capital requirement
- Easy storage
- Affordable future resale prices
- Strong gifting demand
- Cheaper postage
- Potential for exclusive mobs
The reported Forest Attack, Jungle Fort and Blaze Battle Arena should therefore be reviewed carefully once their minifigures become known.
The strongest percentage return in the wave may not necessarily come from the most expensive set.
Investment risks
The first risk is that the entire range remains unconfirmed.
Names, prices and release dates can change, while some reported products may be delayed or cancelled. No buying recommendation should be made until LEGO publishes official details.
The second risk is theme saturation. LEGO releases numerous Minecraft sets every year, often revisiting animals, mines, Nether locations and fortresses. A set needs distinctive characters or design to remain memorable.
The third risk is wide retail distribution. Minecraft is a mainstream children’s theme, meaning many products receive regular discounts and large production volumes.
The fourth risk is continued reinterpretation. A stronger castle, pig or wolf model could appear later and reduce the uniqueness of the 2027 versions.
Finally, reported prices reveal nothing about value until piece counts and figures are known. A $69.99 castle could be excellent value or surprisingly slight depending on the finished model.
Buying strategy
Collectors should wait for LEGO’s official reveal before making any decision.
Once confirmed, the priorities should be:
- Identify exclusive characters and mobs.
- Compare the Castle Joust with retired fortress and castle sets.
- Assess price per piece and physical size.
- Monitor retailer distribution and discounts.
- Check whether any set contains new moulds or armour.
- Establish likely retirement timing.
Minecraft products are commonly discounted, so investors will probably benefit from waiting rather than purchasing immediately at full RRP.
A 20% discount would reduce the rumoured Castle Joust from $69.99 to approximately $55.99. A 25% discount would reduce it to approximately $52.49.
Those entry levels would create a much stronger margin of safety, particularly if the set remains widely available for 18 months or more.
The cheapest sets may require a different strategy. A $9.99 or $14.99 product with an exclusive mob could justify buying at or close to RRP because the cash saving from waiting would be small and stock can occasionally disappear unexpectedly.
Investabrick investment verdict
The reported January 2027 LEGO Minecraft range looks varied, accessible and potentially stronger than a routine collection of biome playsets.
21606 The Castle Joust is the early standout. It combines a recognisable medieval subject with a new gameplay concept and a manageable reported price. The strong public performance of earlier products such as 21127 The Fortress supports the idea that substantial Minecraft defensive locations can become desirable after retirement.
The broader theme also provides encouraging foundations. Public Investabrick analysis places Minecraft’s average annualised growth at approximately 9% to 10%, while exceptional products such as The Mountain Cave demonstrate the value that definitive locations can achieve.
However, the absence of confirmed piece counts and figures prevents a firm recommendation. Within Minecraft, character exclusivity and entry price can matter as much as the headline build.
The provisional Investabrick verdict is:
21606 The Castle Joust: Strong Early Interest — Buy on Discount After Official Reveal
Smaller January Sets: Monitor for Exclusive Mobs and Player Skins
The Castle Joust could become one of the more promising mainstream Minecraft investments of 2027 if it includes a strong minifigure selection, feels complete at $69.99 and receives a normal rather than extended production run.
The Jungle Fort Skeleton Attack and Blaze Battle Arena may offer better percentage-return potential if their low prices are combined with exclusive characters. Those details should be reassessed immediately after LEGO confirms the range.
