LEGO® Coding Express 45025, released in January 2018, is a part of the Education theme and the Duplo subtheme. This set consists of 234 LEGO DUPLO bricks and is designed to inspire preschoolers to explore early coding and critical 21st century skills through creative and collaborative play. The set includes a Push & Go train with lights and sounds, a motor, color sensor that interacts with 5 colored action bricks, and 2 railroad switches. The child-led free optional app provides four areas for preschoolers to explore: Journeys, Characters, Music and Math. The different themed activities change the way the action bricks behave, altering the effect on the train. The activities are open-ended and preschoolers will practice a variety of skills relevant for early childhood development. LEGO 45025 is a versatile solution that introduces preschoolers to early coding concepts, such as sequencing, looping, and conditional coding, while developing problem-solving skills, critical thinking, collaboration, and social and emotional skills. The set also includes easy in-the-box getting started materials, a teacher guide with online lessons, and short online video tutorials. The free optional app for iOS and Android app included in the set allows preschoolers to collaborate and interact with the physical toy train through a digital medium. Face-to-face training is also available for in-depth understanding of how to successfully implement the Coding Express teaching solution into teaching.
LEGO 45025 set was retired in January 2019 after being available for 18 months. Currently, a new, sealed unit is valued at $237, a -9% increase over its original retail price $260. This represents an average yearly growth of -1.3%. This set includes 234 pieces. Part of the Education theme with 343 sets, 172 of which are retired, this theme has seen an average growth of 59 annually. Within the Duplo sub-theme, it is one of 91 sets, with 65 retired, showing an average growth of 80 per year.
